Nevada State Assembly candidate Vinny Spotleson (District 41) is calling for statewide oversight and strict standards on data center developments across Nevada.

Ending Unchecked Corporate Tax Abatements: Over the last decade, data centers have received nearly $500 million in tax abatements in Nevada. Vinny argues that tech corporations should pay standard tax revenues so that money can be reinvested into public schools and local infrastructure .

Strict Environmental & Operational Requirements: If new data centers are constructed in Nevada, Vinny advocates that they must:

Consume Zero Local Water: Mandating dry-cooling technology to preserve Nevada’s water supply.

Generate 100% On-Site Clean Energy: Requiring data centers to produce their own renewable power rather than overburdening the grid.

Build with Union Labor: Ensuring all construction creates quality, high-paying local union jobs .

Building on Local Successes: Vinny highlights progress already made at the local level—such as Las Vegas prohibiting data centers from using municipal water for cooling and the Reno City Council passing a moratorium on new data center construction.
